I’ve been coming to this store for years because it was the closest to my house… but never again. Recently I made a trip to get some more shampoo and discovered that ALL of their shelves are now locked behind glass. Virtually everything I would go there to buy now requires employee assistance just to pick up off the shelf. If you want me to stop shopping at your store, this is exactly what to do! Even laundry detergent is behind glass. I’ve never seen anything so ridiculous in my life.By Greg Spickard (3 months ago)Aisle after aisle of locked products with a lack enough staff with keys. You’ll here the echo of radios chirp, “service requested in aisle 2, who is responding?… 15 seconds remaining… Service level exceeded.”
I’ll pay extra and shop online and have Amazon deliver it just so I don’t have to wait at this Target, again.By Ty T (a month ago)I’ve spent way too much money here, but fortuitously, after recently visiting and seeing their new security measures, Target has solved my problem! Most of their products are now locked in cases and you have to “alert” a staff member when you are ready to pick something out. I waited about 5 minutes in each section for someone to show up, then they’ll open the case only long enough for you to grab something (or, they’ll insist on grabbing it for you). If you want to look at the back label of anything, then better research it online first. It’s such an inconvenience for customers and staff alike, that I’d rather shop online and save the gas and time of having to come here anyway. So long, Target!By Will J (4 months ago)I’ve been coming here for years with no issues and the staff has always been helpful and nice. Not sure what’s happened in the last few weeks, but suddenly half of the store is locked up with not enough staff members to assist you with getting items. There is also no way to call an employee over so you’re just standing there hoping someone walks by. Bad experience for staff and customers.By Rebecca Beltz (4 months ago)This has to be the worst Target in the East Bay – the store itself is nice and clean, and the employees are helpful, but they’ve locked up all the household essential products. That combined with them being short staffed makes it near impossible to just buy some freaking laundry detergent. Today, I went in and they now have armed security following people around the store, which is threatening, intimidating, and downright unnecessary. Target has really fallen off in recent years. They’ve gotta do better.By Alexander Schultz (3 months ago)

This location feels designed specifically for local residents within walking distance who only use self-checkout. If you’re not in that category, I’d avoid visiting this location and drive a little bit west to Emeryville instead where they have free parking. This Broadway Target has a paid parking lot shared by the other residents of their building (it’s located on the first floor of a larger structure) or metered street parking. During my visit, I saw they had a sale on beer, so I decided to pick some up… Only problem? They have no checkout lanes here! There is one small corner with a handful of self-checkout registers, but you can’t buy alcohol at the self-checkout. Instead, I had to wait in a long line at the return counter! I was flabbergasted. I mean, I get that they don’t have the floor space for a dozen checkout lanes in this location, but this is far from the experience I’ve come to expect from other Targets, that’s for sure. They had all the things I needed in stock, but due to the parking and checkout experience I don’t think I’ll ever be back to this location.By Greg Spickard (9 months ago)Been to this Target half a dozen and rarely walk away with anything I come in for. They are often out of stock, especially in the clothing department, leaving only one size or variety. Today, I called four times with no answer, so I came in looking for a hot glue gun. To my surprise, there were two, surrounded by empty slots where the glue would be, if in stock. Staff is helpful enough, not bad, not great. I’m sure it’s exhausting to tell people their product is out of stock all the time. There’s seemingly more security than team members, to which I suggest hiring people qualified to order so security actually has assets to protect. Til then, it’s a waste of labor as a business and a waste of a trip as a guest.By Kendall Herkimer (2 months ago)My Target account was stolen and used to shop here when I live states away. First, they should have checked the pick up person’s ID like it says in the order confirmation email but clearly they didn’t. Aside from that, when I finally talked to someone at this store about the issue, they were incredibly rude. I called 25 times over four hours before I finally reached a person. When I tried to explain the situation, they interrupted me and told me it’s not their problem and to call my bank. I had already talked to Target corporate security and my bank, both of which were incredibly kind and helpful. I thought a manager at this store would like to know the situation in order to be ready to assist their corporate security, but I was met with someone who clearly wanted me off the phone even though our phone call lasted less than 2 minutes. I was interrupted and told “it’s not our problem”. I mentioned they should prepare their video footage for corporate and she shouted “WE’RE NOT GIVING OUT OUR FOOTAGE”. I never asked for it and specifically said for their corporate security.
When I first saw the fraudulent charge, I wasn’t angry or upset by any definition of the words. I was mildly annoyed but trusted that Target would help me resolve it. Now I absolutely believe this was a result of the front desk’s negligence, and I am furious at this local Target’s management. The kind people I spoke to at corporate were amazing, but this store needs to replace this worker. I wish I knew her name to make a more formal complaint, but I have already called corporate again and they said they have noted this in the investigation report.By William (5 months ago)The biggest negative with this Target is the location. It’s a dangerous area with car break ins happening many times within the hour even though the police is a short drive away. Regardless of if you have valuables, you may be targeted. Due to this alone, I wouldn’t visit again. There is limited street parking and glass shattered everywhere on the streets. The store itself is nice inside but many items were low in stock, particularly their electronics and electronic accessories. Grocery items are available but options are limited.By Latifa S (10 months ago)Why do they have the security geared up like they’re going to Desert Storm!? I was genuinely confused walking in the store thinking something was going down with the level of tactical gear these guys are in. The self check out is a nightmare. It’s confusing for people who don’t want to use it, where do you line up? 0 stars will not return.By T Gomez (3 weeks ago)
