I’m sorry but this target smells EVERY time I go. Have to put my mask on because it smells so bad, but even with a mask, it smells. There’s a horrible sewage scent that bleeds its way through the entire store. There are a few items at this target that I like to pick up but the smell is outrageous. I keep thinking it’s a fluke but it really smells horrendous almost every time I go. Most targets smell good. This isn’t acceptable

    Horrible experience!!
First thing I noticed was the SMELL – smells like human waste through the whole store.
There was not a single human cashier or even a self checkout attendant to fix the machines when 3/5 of them were stuck on ‘someone is on the way to help’ mode. By the time an employee finally came, we had been waiting for 10 minutes and had just gotten to a working register. The employee just walked by and didn’t acknowledge any of the customers or the fact that the registers weren’t working.
Whatever. Short staffed and overworked and all that, okay fine.
But when I asked where we get the parking validated, the employee vaguely pointed to my right and said ‘press the button twice’ and turned her back to me. When I asked which button, the employee huffed, stomped over, said ‘press the button twice’ with a nasty attitude as they lightly tapped a blue light (that was not a button), then walked away.

    0/10 will NEVER go again.

Small but fairly well provisioned food section, with both snack foods and some home groceries, heavy on the convenience foods. Prices are high but better than other stores in the area. Conveniently open until 11 p.m. on Saturdays, in an area where other stores close at 9 or 10, but it closes earlier on other days of the week. Free parking with store validation.

Downside: Service was sparse and heavily dependent on self-service—there were no employees on the floor helping customers, and of three employees around the checkout counter, only one was operating a register, quite lackadaisically.

My friend is a former employee at this establishment and I decided to post this on their behalf to protect their anonymity.

First off, HR is prone to scheduling shifts at horrible times with little regard for the time you will have between shifts. Now this could be fixed if HR was more present and was available to talk about shift scheduling and issues that arise from how they do it.

Secondly, the General Manager is very aggressive with their style of management. They often are talking down to people and attempting to single them out for ridicule or to give attitude to. They also have zero regard for a worker’s wellbeing or health, instead putting the business before the people who have to make sacrifices for it. If you ever do call out and the GM answers, be prepared because she will try to gaslight you and talk you out of whatever your legitimate reason for not being able to come in is.

Great small format Target in a really accessible part of Cleveland Park (and just steps from the Metro stop). Impressed with their selection of fresh foods. Nice home goods section too. Unique underground store. Really friendly employees! I will certainly be back.

Really? We’ve come to this? Stood there several minutes, waving my hand at the device for staff with keys to come and unlock a $3 bottle of nanproxen. When there’s a whole liquor section near by not locked? Lord have mercy.

Today I was helped by Jere (I hope I am spelling this correct) She was the cashier at the pickup/return. I went to pickup an order of gingerbread houses but the items were no longer available. I could have gone to the shelves myself to get them (they still had them at the store) but she got a cart and went there herself and got me 15 gingerbread houses. She didn’t have to do this! This is priceless! I wish every employee was this attentive. Thanks Jere!

Decent Target, people complain but it’s a city store.
Yes stock is low at times, but I’m used to it with the pandemic
The staff is pretty friendly and helpful. I’ve never waited long. Nice diversity too, represents neighborhood and that means a lot
    Thank you Target

Waited 30+ minutes for a caramel latte. Requested and received a refund. Ms. Jada gave a friend a free drink, while I’m still waiting for my drink and not assisting a new employee when he obviously needed help. Target 14th street Starbucks employees, definitely do not represent the brand (TARGET OR STARBUCKS) in a positive way. I’ve NEVER had a bad experience at any Starbucks or Target EVER!

    Convenient location and parking. However,
I was disappointed to see so many new items locked up. There is a buzzer to call someone to unlock the case, but the buzzer was broken. There were no employees around to flag for help. What is the point of shopping in-person if you can’t access the goods?
✭✭ By Katie Maciocha (5 months ago)
In the past, I found this Target very convenient and enjoyed shopping here, but over the last few weeks they have locked the shelves for everyday basics—laundry detergent, soap, cosmetics, deodorant, etc. It is extremely annoying, because you are constantly needing to flag down a staff member and have them supervise you as you select each small item. It is also depressing to think that shoplifting reached the point that Target would want this—an uncomfortable reminder of the growing crime in DC. Sadly, I will be shopping here much less in the future—the convenience of the in-person shopping has been lost.

Not a great shopping experience with many aisles of packaged goods locked up (detergent, shampoo, soap). I tend to avoid places where I have to ask permission to buy a tube of toothpaste that is behind lock and key.

Sometimes it’s the only Target in the area to have a certain product in stock via the Target app. It’s more of a get in and get out type of place.

The Bethesda Target further up Wisconsin Ave is somehow smaller but much better than this one. This one is OK, if you’re not shopping for stuff that is locked up.

I remember when this was a Best Buy…in the good old days.

Clean and less crowded than Walmart, but a little more expensive

A lot of the shelves were empty or locked away (skincare aisle) please be aware of homeless people begging for money in the store. I was cornered into buying a gift card for a homeless lady.
